League Game
The original Rollcage had a simple league system, win a race - get some points.
Win the league to progress to the next.
Rollcage Stage II has five leagues. Each league consists of the simple league points system. Win a race and get 10 points (and also a continue) if you win the league on points after the first three races then you get to have a go at the knockout stage. This is your gateway to opening the next league. In the knockout race you must make sure that you are never the last car over the line, if you are then you are knocked out. However, if you have acquired any continues then you can have another go at the knockout race straight away.
Win the knockout race and the next league is opened. Your continues are cumulative, so the better you get at winning races the easier it is to progress through the leagues.
Arcade
This is a simple one-off race against four other cars. You get to choose to
race on any track that has been previously opened in the league game.
Time Attack
As in the original, only this time with the addition of a hologramatic portrayal
of the best lap time. Try to get the fastest time from any track that has been
previously opened.
Training
We have ten purposely-built training tracks, which will introduce the player
to the basic elements of the game. The player must complete a simple task on
each track (ie. collect a pickup) and stop in the finishing area, within a generous
time limit. Silver and Gold medals can be awarded if the player does these tracks
quicker than the qualification time.
Scramble
Scramble mode is one of the coolest things in Rollcage stage 2. The player must
get from the start to the finish of each track in a pre-determined time. Silver
and Gold medals can be awarded if the player does them quicker than the qualification
time. There are a total of twenty-five tracks to discover, the next one being
opened if you set a qualifying time.
Survivor
Complete the league game and you get to have a go at survivor. Race each track
from the league in order. You only get to race the next track if you win the
race. The idea is to get as far up the tracks as you can without losing.
Demolition
The idea here is simply to destroy all the destroyable objects on the track,
in the fastest time possible.
All Tracks
When all 20 league tracks are available, the player can attempt a time in the
'All tracks' game. Here the player must complete one lap from each track, with
only his total time being counted. There are no other cars, and only turbos
are awarded as power-ups.
